Nanna pati

It has been quite a while since a post has come upon this site. It was 12 in the night when suddenly I remembered the right name for this blog and threw a search in my mail. Viola! There is the blog! Hearing pati's voice and words no longer seems distant and invokes sadness. I celebrate her life just as I embrace her death. This, I think is true healing.

90th BIRTH DAY

Amma ninna 90th birth day today.

Shathabhisha has come for th 90th time.

I am trying to recollect my life.

we built a house and wanted u to move with us.U both did.

anna was growing weak,and did so much for the house,I prayed

he shud enjoy the house at least one year,God granted my wish generously.

A great many functions went in the house,the most memorable one anna's 80th birth day.

amma I donot remember a day where we had negative talk.

Not aday where u felt tired.

The life was beautiful.I was happy siri was very loving and cherished ur love.

anna once said,"siri is the best child in the world" I beamed with joy.

once a meeting was announced in the school at 4pm.I just called u and said I wud be late

It was a long one,I reached home at 9

My child was asleep peacefully

I told myself,"oh god give me strength to take care of my parents"

God gave me that.

once in bangalore I asked u" amma did I lose my temper on u"

U said I did not.I thanked God for giving me that sweet temper.

amma I see u every day,every where

when I took part in the wedding last week,I thought of u alot

u wud have been happy to see me receive a daughter in law,in the vedic way

amma's wish!

I happened to stop and visit Kaladi,Bhagavath Pada Shankara's birth place.
The place houses SriSharada Peeta.As I stood,before the deity amma came into mind.She would have loved to be there.She would have recited Shankara's Sharada stuti full.I got in to mind one stanza,I recited it and prayed amma's soul be at peace.Its amma's blessings if am someone today.She had special prayer for my education,and Goddess Sharade has blessed me totally.Amma,thank you.

Gesture!

A winter day in Mysore.Amma was up early and planned to go for a stroll. She wrapped herself in a shawl and left . After a while the door bell rang.When I opened the door I her from the walk back.She did not have her shawl on.

I asked: where is the shawl?

amma: Oh,the neighbour lady started on her walk.It was cold.I gave her the shawl.

I was impressed.

nanu,amma,ajjampura!

may b I was 8 or 9.A day in ajjampura.My routine was go round and pluck flowers gather them in my langa,bring home and admire them.
one such day,amma was unhappy I was spoiling the flowers by plucking them.I was not bothered about what she said,was lost in my admiration of the colour,make,form of the flwers.A talk ensued between us,
me: amma.see this flower so beautiful!
amma: yes,all flowers are beautiful.
me:amma,If I sit through with the plant,can I see them bllom?
amma: No,never,You can be with it watching through out,they bloom
you donot see the action o blooming.Thats the magic.

This is first in the series of talks by amma which I plan to add here regularly. Here, she begins her reminicenses beginning from her pati - Alamelu. She at one point refers to her pati's amma. Her kollu pati!!! Imagine how many many generations back she takes you!

A woman,to inspire!

NAMMA AMMA, who didnot taste the love of amma, but fed many with the honey of mom's love.She will be 90 in 2012,first born is 70 while her last born is 53.She doesnot remember her mother,she was brought up by her maternal uncle, and her grand mother.She got married when she was 13 and went through all possible problems a middle class woman went through during early 20th century. No mundane problem deterred her,as she remembered her grand mother's words, Her grand mother also survived similar hardship .she has just passed 8th standard, which was called L.S. but her knowledge of things, like science,atrology,astronomy,vedanta,different school of phylosophy,her concern for the needy,care for the family,are awe inspiring.she spends all her time reading,watching T.V.and listening to upnyasams.Get ready to listen to her narration of milestones of her life
